Mat Scott

Originally from Haumoana, Hawkes Bay, Mathew is of Maori, Irish, & Scottish descent. His whakapapa is to Te Arawa, Ngati Whakaue, Te Ati Awa & Ngati Raukawa.  From an inter-generational family of designers and artists, Mathew’s work reflects not only his connection to family but an interpretation of the environment in which he lives. 

Graduating from the Wellington School of Design in 1991, his work has encompassed design, painting,  stonework and carving.  His current works brings to life the importance of connections - both spiritual and physical - and the significance that feathers can embody.

Mathew's work has been sold privately both within New Zealand and abroad, including private sector commissions.
